Windows 10 now shows ads on the lock screen — here’s how to kill them


Microsoft has begun showing advertisements on the Windows 10 lock screen. The company telegraphed this move nearly a year ago, but has avoided actually pushing content until now. The ads in question are for Rise of the Tomb Raider, which launched in January for the PC and last fall for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

MasterCard has launched a new mobile app that will allow customers to replace their passwords that authenticate their online purchases with selfies or fingerprints. The program will be rolled out by big banks in the US, Canada and the UK and some European countries over the next few months, says this report.

New Android malware spreads via SMS and can erase phone data


Danish security firm, Heimdal, has discovered a new Android malware called Mazar that can spread via text messages. The malware is capable of reading texts, making calls, or even wipe the device. The firm says that Mazar may have infected up to 100,000 handsets in Denmark, although the company isn’t sure if it has infected devices in other countries. 

India’s most affordable phone – Freedom 251 priced at Rs 251 – to launch in Delhi

Ringing Bells, a relatively new and unheard of company, has created quite a furore today when it announced the launch of its maiden smartphone – the Freedom 251 – at an insane price of Rs 251 only!

We are sure, you may have been asked the question by someone or the other in your friend or family circle regarding the phone. Freedom 251 is a 4-inch phone with a 960 x 540 pixel display, which will come with a 3.2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front facing camera with Android 5.1 OS running on it.

The phone is expected to have a 1,450mAh battery. It comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB if internal storage.


The phone will be launched in Delhi in the presence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikkar, MP Murli Manohar Joshi along with MP MLA Omprakash Sakhlecha from 7PM onwards.

Google pulls Samsung-backed adblock extension from the Play Store


Samsung announced a new customized browser for Android devices recently, but unlike its old browser, this one is based on Chromium and has full support for extensions. Samsung partnered with Rocketship Apps to launch an ad-blocker module called Adblock Fast for it’s new browser, but Google was not amused.
